Doctor Jaymoe

James Ling’o Maring (born January 1, 1994), professionally known as Doctor Jaymoe, is a South Sudanese Afrobeats and Afropop recording artist, songwriter, and founder of Classic Legendary Legacy. Born in Uganda during the Sudanese Civil War, Doctor Jaymoe’s music is deeply rooted in themes of resilience, healing, survival, and cultural identity.

Growing up in the midst of war and displacement, Maring endured a childhood shaped by fear, instability, and isolation. For nearly three years, he lived in the forest with members of his family, taking shelter in caves and holes dug by hunters and tribal warriors to escape gunfire and aerial bombings from northern Sudanese forces. During this time, he also faced the constant threat of being forced into becoming a child soldier, locally known as “Jesh Ahmara,” meaning “Red Soldiers” or “War Machine.”

Living through violence, loss, and uncertainty profoundly influenced Doctor Jaymoe’s artistic vision. Music eventually became both an escape and a form of healing, allowing him to transform painful experiences into messages of hope, perseverance, and empowerment.

Blending Afrobeats, Afropop, and inspirational storytelling, Doctor Jaymoe creates music that reflects his life journey while connecting with audiences across cultures. As the founder of Classic Legendary Legacy, he continues to build a creative platform focused on music, culture, and positive impact.
